Nanoosakestest, vesikirpudedest ja kontsentratsioonist | Anne Kahru | TEDxTallinn
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences.
Anne Kahru is one of the most cited scientists worldwide in the fields of environment and ecology. She is on the frontier of ecotoxicological research in Estonia, founder and chair of the board of the Estonian Society of Toxicology.
Since 2005 she has been the head of the Laboratory of Environmental Toxicology at the National Institute of Chemical Physics and Biophysics in Tallinn.
Several decades ago, Anne started one of the first working groups in the world for ecotoxicological researching of nano-sized metal oxide.
Anne was also the first Estonian scientist interviewed by Thomson Reuters’ ScienceWatch regarding the article by her working group in the magazine ‘Chemosphere’ about the ecotoxical effect of nano particles.
She is the author of more than 80 research papers and has supervised six PhD theses.
In 2011, she received Estonia’s National Science Award for her research on “Ecotoxicology and mechanisms of toxicity of synthetic nanoparticles”.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
